Many possibilities at Bogstad Lake
At Bogstad Camp & Turistsenter you can swim in the nearby lake. It is one of the most popular bathing beaches in Oslo, and is just a 2-minute walk down a path from the campsite. You can rent equipment for windsurfing, paddle-boats, and other small boats, or just relax and enjoy the view.
Bicycle rentals nearby
It is just 3 km to Tryvannskleiva, where you have the opportunity to rent bicycles from Tomm Murstad, all summer. Ask at our reception for more information.

Beautiful walking trails in Nordmarka (a local wilderness area)
Bogstad Camp & Turistsenter borders Nordmarka, a protected forest area surrounding Oslo that has excellent well marked walking trails. You can also rent bicycles nearby and return them to the campsite, if you wish. You can visit one of the small cafeterias on your hike, or fish in one of the many small lakes in the area.
Shopping and Sightseeing in Oslo
Bogstad is just a10-minutes drive from Oslo center. Here you will find all the shopping you want. Next to Oslo central train station you will find large shopping centers, such as Oslo City and Byporten Shopping Center, and at Aker Brygge and Majorstua you will find many interesting and exclusive small boutiques. For the more alternative shopper, Grunerløkka has something for every taste.
Cafes and Pubs at Aker Brygge
Aker Brygge is a dockside area that is well known for its exclusive shops and outdoor restaurants and pubs. You will find something to entertain you from early morning to late at night.
Holmenkollen
Holmenkollen is one of Oslo's most well known and popular attractions and among the world's most famous sports arenas. In the course of a year over 1 million visitors come to see this fantastic structure and its beautiful and scenic surroundings, including the worlds oldest ski museum, dating from 1923. This is a must see!
We should mention that there has been a ski jump competition every year since 1892. The record for the longest jump was for 132.5 meters and was set by Swen Hannawald from Germany. The record for women was for 116 meters and was set by Anette Sagen from Norway.
Vigelands Park
This sculpture park is one of the main attractions in Oslo, situated in Frogner Park between the busy shopping area of Majorstua, and Frogner. Here, you can have a picnic in the huge expanse of green grass and enjoy a warm summer day. You will find endless entertainment among the sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. It is an easy trip from Bogstad by subway.
Bygdøy Peninsula, with Viking Ship museum
This peninsula has many fine museums: Kon Tiki, Norwegian Folk museum, Fram museum, Norwegian Shipping museum (Norsk Sjøfartsmuseum), and Viking Ship museum.
Inside the Viking Ship museum you will find the remains of century old Viking ships from around Norway. The three ships shown here are the best-preserved ships of their time, found in large burial grounds around the Oslo fjord.
